This is what we have deduced:įor the Windows Screen Share application (and presumably the Mac version as well) the problem appears to be with Promethean’s cloud-based discovery service. Screen Share has been acting up sporadically for us for some time, but yesterday the problem became serious. This issue affects devices both connected to wifi as well as ethernet. Our outside networking team states there has been no change to the network, and no other devices appear to be affected, as teachers are using the streaming equipment that was replaced by the boards to make up for the loss, including chromecasts and appletv’s. “Must be a port forwarding issue for audio” I thought, but the rules are still in our port-forwarding rules as pertaining to Teachers are able to cast to their board with the Google Extension. Today I found that every device in my middle school was reporting ‘Panel ID error’, and that resetting the wifi service in settings, force-quitting, reinstalling the app and other troubleshooting that usually resolves the issue no longer had any effect. Where before today, I had one or two teachers reporting they were unable to connect. My school district’s ability to use the Screenshare app has been becoming more and more of an issue.
